Computer Science

Through the 2+2 Program, students can complete this Bachelor of Science degree in its entirety in Rochester by completing lower division credits at Rochester Community and Technical College and the major's upper division credits at Winona State University-Rochester Center.  The Computer Science major is in-depth and requires no minor.  Incoming transfer students should consult with a Computer Science advisor before registering for courses.  All required courses and elective courses for a major/minor must be taken for a letter grade except for CS 491.

To graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a total of 128 credits are required.  Normally, 64 credits can be transferred from a two-year institution and the remainder can be taken from WSU or transferred from a four-year institution. At least 30 semester hours must be taken from WSU.

Computer Science classes are designed to give students an understanding and appreciation for both theoretical and applied Computer Science which will prepare them for careers in industry or further study at the graduate level.

Prerequisites

The prerequisites for Computer Science courses must be met with a "C" grade or better.  Students who have not met the prerequisites with a grade of "C" or better before the course begins will be dropped from that course.

WSU Course:CS 250 Algorithms and Problem Solving II

RCTC Equivalent:COMP 2247 Algorithms and Data Structures

WSU Course:245 Math Foundation of Algorithms

RCTC Equivalent:MATH 2218 Discrete Mathematics & Foundations
