GRADUATE PROGRAM

 

 

WSU-Rochester Center offers both the Master of Science degree (M.S.) and the Specialist degree (Ed.S.) in Educational Leadership through the College of Education at WSU.

 

Experience dynamic coursework on transforming the way we do business in education that integrates and expands on the most advanced research, theory, developments, and practices.

 

1.    Master's Degree (M.S.)

 

·         Completion of the Master's degree can lead to certification as a principal in most states (except Minnesota) and as a superintendent in many.

 

·         Coursework is required in three areas:

1.       Educational Leadership major                                                                        15

2.        Area of specialization                                                                                  3-12

(Teacher Leadership, Elementary Leadership, Secondary Leadership)

3.       Electives                                                                                                      6-15

Total minimum program credits beyond the Bachelor's degree =  (sem.cr.)  33

 

2.    Specialist Degree (Ed.S.)

 

·         Completion of the Specialist degree can lead to certification as a principal and superintendent in virtually all states.

 

·         Coursework is required in the following areas:

1.       Educational Leadership major                                                                       23

2.       Area of specialization                                                                                 6-21

(K-12 Principal/Superintendent) 

3.       Electives                                                                                                     0-12

Total minimum program credits beyond the Master's degree =   (sem.cr.)  30

 

Note: Many of the Master's degree credits will meet Education Specialist credit requirements

 

 

FYI…

·         Program courses are offered on weekday evenings, Saturdays, and daily during summer sessions.

·         All coursework for the Master's degree and the Specialist degree is offered via interactive television to and from the University Center Rochester.
