MASTER’S NURSING-ADVANCED PRACTICE

NURSE ADMINISTRATOR

WSU-Rochester Center offers the Master of Science degree with the Advanced Practice Nursing major.  The M.S. degree can be completed in its entirety at the WSU-Rochester Center, with most classes being taught by residential faculty and some selected classes via ITV and other distance education technology.

Accreditation

The Master of Science Program in Nursing is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).  Preliminary approval of the program has been granted by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Purpose

The Master of Science program in Nursing at Winona State University educates nurses for advance practice where change is constant.  The program provides a strong clinical base in advance nursing practice.  Students select a focus of Nurse Administrator, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Educator, Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner.

Focus:  Nurse Administrator

Students will be prepared for administrative positions in a health care setting.  In addition to the core courses, content focuses on elements of a nursing care system, the responsibilities of the nurse administrator in research, education and clinical practice, human resource management, fiscal accountability of the nursing administrator, the functions of the nursing administrator in the organization, and on issues and trends in nursing administration.
