Academic Advisor/Counselor

Welcome to Leslie who has joined the SSS staff.  Leslie said even though she is new to our staff she feels as though she is coming home.  Leslie's first job at WSU was as a tutor in what is now the student lounge space in our office.  She also worked in the former Academic Skills Center and in the Disability Resource Center while working on her master's degree in counseling at WSU.

For the past three years, Leslie has served as an academic advisor at Rochester Community & Technical College, serving TRiO students at that institution.  She expressed her excitement at having an opportunity to bring her experience "back home" to the WSU community.  "My life's mission is to help others discover or rediscover the strengths and resources they already have to help them reach their academic, career and personal goals."

When she isn't in the office, Leslie enjoys reading, knitting and exploring nature.  Her newest outdoor passion is kayaking, and during the summer she can often be found paddling the backwaters of the Mississippi River.  She has 3 adult sons, a college-professor husband and an adorable 1 yr. old granddaughter and says she is very happy to share pictures with anyone who asks.
