In addition to completing the WSU General Application found on the Study Abroad Home Page, all students planning on studying at Tamkang University will be required to provide the following documents.

Visa Information

Students will either apply for a Visitor Visa if their stay is less than 60 days or a Resident Visa will allow students to stay in Taiwan for longer than 60 days.

Applications can be brought to the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in person OR; applications can be sent by mail to:

Applicants are fully responsible for passports and any other documents sent by mail. The TECO office assumes no responsibility for delayed, lost, or stolen items sent by mail at the applicant's request. If your application and necessary documents are sent by mail, a self-addressed & stamped Express or Priority (plus delivery confirmation) envelope is required. If other form of express mail service (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.) is requested, a pre-typed airbill with sufficient postage or with an account number must be provided with the application. This office does not accept collect express mail service.

Visitor Visa: 60 Days or less

Required Documents for Visitor Visa Application

  • A passport valid for a minimum of six months
  • A completed visa application form [Download]
  • Two current 2" x 2" photos
  • A travel ticket or confirmation letter from a travel agency or business
  • Other necessary documents, as requested (company letter, invitation letter, or recommendation letter)
  • Application fee of $100 in the form of a Money Order, payable to Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago.

 

Resident Visa: More than 60 days

Requirements for residence visa application:

 
  • Passport valid for at least six months
  • A duly completed application form [Download]
  • Two 2x2 inch color photos taken within from the last six months.
  • Supporting documents or official letters of approval from a competent authority of the ROC;
  • Application fee of $100 for single entry in the form of a Money Order, payable to Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago.
 

 

Students who enter on a visitor visa can apply for a resident visa once they arrive in Taiwan, or apply for an extention of their visior visa.  Students will be assisted by TKU staff to go to the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs to apply for a Residence visa after receiving their student ID within the period that their visitor visa remains valid.
