The program to Granada, Spain is intended for Spanish majors, minors.  Students will have the opportunity to study in the fall, spring, summer, or for a full year.

Once in Granada, students will take a proficiency test for placement in the appropriate language session based on Spanish language ability. This will allow students to learn the Spanish language with others at the same level.  This includes students who don’t have Spanish language background prior to arrival in Spain.

Students will have an intensive month to acculturate into the Spanish culture.  During this time, Spanish grammar and communication classes are emphasized for effective practice in the language.

Depending on the semester, students will also be able to achieve WSU credit for all classes required for the Spanish major or minor.  A full year in Spain can grant a student a complete major in Spanish (please talk to an advisor in the Spanish department, or the study abroad office).

Courses are taught by Spanish professors in the Spanish language unless a student is in the beginning level of language proficiency. Students are also afforded the opportunity to participate in a language exchange program (intercambio) with Spanish speaking students.  An intercambio gives students the opportunity to utilize language skills with Spaniards that are learning English.
