Sustainable Futures Events Calendar

It is important to look at our Sustainable Futures from every angle. We are actively planning many cool events that will span the entire year. Expect to see events that help you become a good steward of our earth such as the history of Victory Gardens in Winona and a play by Wendell Barry. You can also learn how to develop self-resilience and how to achieve a sustainable body image. Featured lyceum speakers include Will Allen on urban farming, and Chris Farrell on the new frugality. There will be music, theatre, dancing and many more ways to explore how we can build Sustainable Futures together.

Faculty/Staff Retreat – Exploring the Anthropocene

April 15, 4:30-8:30 pm at the Winona Art Center, 228 E. 5th Street.

Come explore ways the University might meet the challenges of the Anthropocene. The Anthropocene (roughly translated as “the age of humans”) is a term coined at the beginning of the millennium by biologist Eugene Stoermer and Nobel Prize-winning atmospheric chemist Paul Crutzen to acknowledge that humans have become the primary driver of geological change on the planet.
