There are several excellent sources of  free tutoring and academic assistance available at WSU.  Using these services is an important step toward reaching your academic goals.

Student Support Services(SSS) is a federally funded TRIO program that offers additional support including tutoring, advising, tickets to cultural events, and leadership opportunities to eligible students.  SSS is an excellent place to start when exploring all of the sources of academic assistance available to you.  You may reach SSS by stopping in Howell 133 or calling 457-5465.

Tutoring is offered by several different departments and programs including the Academic Assistance Center, Chemistry Department, and the Math Department.  Tutoring is offered on both a drop-in basis and by arranged one-on-one appointments.

Supplemental Instruction is an academic assistance program that utilizes peer-assisted study sessions.  Supplemental Instruction (SI) sessions are regularly-scheduled, informal review sessions in which students compare notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and predict test items.  Students learn how to integrate course content and study skills while working together under the guidance of a student who has already excelled in the course.

The Writing Center offers WSU students free, individualized instruction in all aspects of writing. The mission of the Writing Center is to help students in all disciplines use writing as an effective tool for learning, communication, self-expression, and critical thinking. To this end, staff in the Writing Center work closely with students, faculty, and administrators to help students become capable, successful writers.
