| James Hoch, music, had his Trio, op. 7 performed on April 3, by the Melanchton Ensemble, in the old monastery, Kloster Gerresheim, located in Dusseldorf, Germany. This is the second performance of Hoch's trio by the ensemble.
Former Winona State student, Greg Bauer, also performed Hoch's Sonata Triduum for pipe organ, op. 33, on April 3, at St. Paul's Church, in New Ulm, Minn.

| Don Salyards, has recently authored columns for the Winona Daily News as a "community columnist." He is now a "blogger" and has established a website, at http://www.donsalyards.com. Every Sunday a new column is added to the site.

Mark Engen, Tom Nalli and Bob Kopitzke, chemistry, attended the National American Chemical Society Meeting in San Diego this March along with seven chemistry students. Over 15,000 chemists from around the globe attended this preeminent professional conference.
Professor Kopitzke and his research student, Jen Zemke, both gave poster presentations within the Division of Polymer Chemistry.
Professor Nalli presented a poster on the Winon State University Chemistry Department's National Science Foundation grant project on the use of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy in the undergraduate chemistry curriculum. He also presented a talk on the use of NMR in his organic courses at the "Hot Topics in Organic Chemistry" symposium. Professor Nalli's research students,
Desiree Bonsack, Amanda K. Meier, Tyler Morin and Missy Jo Studler all presented posters on their research at the Undergraduate Research Poster Session.
Professor Engen's research student, Danielle Swaney presented a poster on her research to the Division of Environmental Chemistry.
