| Brown Bag Dialogues Discuss Diversity |
Winona State University is hosting the New University Brown Bag Dialogue, on Wednesday, April 6, at Noon, in the Maxwell Teleconference Center, GL 137 or on streaming video.
This week's dialogue focuses on diversity. Part of the discussion focuses on the Winona State University Cultural Diversity Plan.

| WSU Habitat for Humanity Hosting Events |
| The Winona State University Habitat for Humanity is hosting events to educate the community about the need for affordable housing.
On Wednesday, April 6, the Winona State Habitat for Humanity is holding an information table, located in the campus courtyard to provide information about homelessness, poverty housing in Minnesota and knowledge about how to become involved with Habitat for Humanity. Individuals can also test their hammering skills by seeing how fast they can hammer a nail into a board.
On Saturday, April 9, the Winona State Habitat for Humanity is hosting an aluminum can drive. Participants are going door-to-door throughout Winona to collect cans and raise money. Those who wish to donate cans can bring them to Matejka Recycling, at 818 W. 3rd Street. All can proceeds go towards the Winona County Habitat for Humanity, goal of collecting 5,000 pounds.
The campus community is invited to participate in all events.

| Cheerleading Team Holding Try-Outs |
The Winona State University cheerleading team is holding try-outs for the 2005-2006 school year, on April 8, at 6 p.m., April 9, at 10 a.m., and April 10, at 10 a.m., at the kidsport gymnastics gym, on the corner of Fifth and Center streets.
Students interested must be enrolled for the school year and ready to commit for football, basketball and summer practices. Try-outs cover skills such as: stunting, tumbling, crowd appeal, motions, voice and overall skill of each individual.
Paricipants should wear form fitting t-shirts, non-mesh shorts and have hair pulled back. Cheer shoes are prefered and jewerly is not recommended. Participants should be prepared to sign a waiver form.

| WSU Rochester Center Hosts Transfer Planning Session |
Students interested in attending the Winona State University Rochester Center are encouraged to attend a special Transfer Planning Session, on Wednesday, April 13, from 5-7 p.m., at the University Center Rochester.
The event includes information about the Winona State University Rochester Center departments and programs, the Rochester campus, Student Services and career opportunities. Those attending can also meet with faculty and staff.
Information is also provided on how current community college, technical college or four year college students can transfer to Winona State University. The session also discusses how the 2+2 Program works and what options are available for graduate school or work after the bachelor’s degree.
Registration is scheduled from 5-5:30 p.m., followed by a welcome with refreshments and door prizes. |

| WSU Presents "Native American Educational Experiences: A Reading" |
Winona State University presents "Native American Educational Experiences: A Reading" as part of the Athenaeum Event Series: Spring 2005 Wednesday, April 6, at 1 p.m., in the WSU Library Athenaeum. The presentation is led by Florestine Kiyukanpi Renville.
The Athenaeum is located on the south side of the second floor of the library. It will seat approximately 60 people.
Renville has a bachelor's degree in journalism from South Dakota State University. She is an enrolled member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Dakota Tribe. Renville also edits and publishes her own publications, Ikce Wicasta and The Common People's Journal, and is one of four co-authors of Shaping Survival: Essays by Four American Indian Tribal Women. The book's authors recount their educational experiences in BIA schools, off-reservation public schools and Indian mission schools, and how those experiences shaped their views on individual, family and community survival. Renville will be reading from the book. |

| Winona Experience Information Fair Scheduled |
| The Winona Experience Student Communication Committee at Winona State University hosts an Information Fair Wednesday, April 13, and Thursday, April 14, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., in the Student
Activities Center, at Kryzsko Commons.
The event allows students to visit several different booths and pick-up information on how the Winona Experience will impact their lives.
There is also a question and answer session scheduled, "Talk With Us," from Noon-1 p.m., in the Art Tye Lounge, in Kryzsko Commons. This session allows students to speak with other students and faculty members regarding questions related to the Winona Experience.

| Department of Music Presents Annual Minnesota Day of Percussion |
The Winona State University Department of Music and the Minnesota Chapter of Percussive Arts Society presents the Annual Minnesota Day of Percussion Saturday, April 9.
From 9 a.m.-noon, there are free concerts by high school and college percussion ensembles; from
1-4 p.m., free clinics with Percussion Group Cincinnati are held; and at 4:30 p.m., there are free door prizes.
The day of percussion ends with an evening concert featuring Percussion Group Cincinnati with the WSU Percussion Ensemble. The concert is held on the Performing Arts Center Main Stage.
Tickets to the evening concert cost $5 for adults, and $3 for students and senior citizens.

Percussion Group Cincinnati are in residence at WSU from Thursday, April 7, through Saturday, April 9.

| Art Club Sponsors Museum Bus Tour |
The Winona State University Art Club is sponsoring a museum bus tour on Sunday, April 24. All members of the campus community and general public are invited to participate.
Featured on the itinerary is the newly expanded Walker Art Museum, which opened a week earlier with all new exhibitions. The adjacent Walker Sculpture Garden and Cowles Conservatory is also available. The tour includes the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Weisman Art Museum on the University of Minnesota campus. The late afternoon ends in Dinkytown, next to the University of Minnesota campus, where participants can dine at local restaurants.
Departure time on the coach bus is 8 a.m., on Sunday morning, from Watkins Hall, at Winona and King Streets. The tour returns to Winona by 9:30 p.m.
The cost of the trip is $17 for students and $20 for all others. Pre-registration is required. Transportation and admission to all museums is included. Participants provide their own lunch and dinner. To register for the trip, sign up and make payments in the Art Office, in Watkins Hall, Room 204, by April 13. Registration is on a first-come first-serve basis. Be sure to include the names of all participants, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses. For more information, call 457-5393.

| The second annual Winona State University Relay For Life cancer walk is on Saturday, April 9 to Sunday, April 10, from 5 p.m.-7 a.m., in the WSU courtyard. The event takes place in the Winona State University courtyard.
