| WSU Hosts Mathematics and Statistics Colloquium |
| Winona State University's Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the WSU Mathematics and Statistics Club host a colloquium on the importance of teaching probability Monday, April 18, from 4-5 p.m., in Gildemeister, Room 156.
The colloquium is presented by Chris Olsen, mathematics/assessment facilitator, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, community schools.
One topic that both students and teachers approach with trepidation is probability. The topics discussed are: where in the curriculum probability should be taught, relevant techniques for teaching probability and how new teachers can eliminate fear of probability.
There is a short reception from 3-3:45 p.m. in Gildemeister, Room 320, and a picnic after the talk, at the Lake Park Lodge, near the end of Main Street.

| Winonan Presents Jack Bennett |
| The Winonan is sponsoring the presentation "How to Sell Ice Cubes to Eskimos" by Jack Bennett on Wednesday, April 13, at 6 p.m., in the Student Union.
Jack Bennett is speaking about sales topics such as: common objectives and how to overcome them, closing techniques, attitude, ability, follow up and customer care.
Jack Bennett has written movie scripts, a book, been in on the radio and in movies and has taught sales training for over 20 years. He is a 30 year veteran of the automotive industry and is currently the Education Director for the Automobile Dealers Association of Mega Milwaukee, (ADAMM). During the past 15 years he has trained over 1100 highly successful salespeople. He has also been helpful in educating the general public and is often called on to give his professional input at adult continuing education courses on Car Buying and Automotive Careers.

| Rowing Club Hosts Ergathon |
The Winona State University Rowing Club is hosting their first annual Ergathon on Tuesday, April 12, from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., in front of the courtyard gazebo.
Sponsor a rower or try an Erg for $5. The club's goal is to raise $3,000.

| Graphic Design Students Presents iCandy |
| Graphic Design students present iCandy, a Senior Exhibition, in the Paul Watkins Gallery, April 13-30. The opening reception is Wednesday, April 13, from 5-7 p.m., in the Paul Watkins Gallery.
The event is free and open to the public.
Steve Anderson, Kendra Baumbach, Michelle Bovinet, Jana Craven, Maureen Dolezal, Garrett Gilbertson, Leslie Glover, Amber Hayden, Tala Khalidi, Reece Majerus, Benjamin Peterson, Jenny Scanlon, and Kristie Steinmuller are exhibiting art work and examples of their graphic design.
Watkins Gallery is located in Watkins Hall. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and on Wednesdays, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

Celebration of the Book Presents “Role of the Small Press” |
As part of Winona State University's ongoing Celebration of the Book, H. Emerson Blake, the editor-in chief of Milkweed Editions, speaks on ”The State of the Book and the Role of the Small Press” Wednesday, April 13, at 7 p.m., in Stark Auditorium.
Milkweed Editions is one of the largest nonprofit literary presses in the country, with more than 115 books of poetry fiction, nonfiction and criticism in publication and more than 1.5 million volumes in print. The press was founded in 1979 by Randy Scholes and Emilie Buchwald.
H. Emerson Blake was formerly the executive editor of Orion magazine, a national literary and arts magazine published by the nonprofit Orion Society. He succeeded Buchwald in 2004 as head of the press and is a spokesman for the mission of small press publishing.
The Celebration of the Book is a semester-long event intended to highlight the importance of the book as both an object and a cultural wellspring. It has been organized by the Consortium for Liberal Arts Promotion (CLAP) and is sponsored by Winona State¹s English, History, Geoscience, Education and Art Departments; the Residential College; the WSU Library; the WSU Foundation; and Sutton Hoo Press. |

| UPAC Hosts Spring Concert featuring Guster |
The rock band Guster performs a concert at Winona State University, on Friday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m., in the McCown Fieldhouse. The concert begins with two opening acts and is sponsored by the WSU's University Programming Activities Committee (UPAC). 
Tickets for the concert are $20 each and are available Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., at the UPAC office, in Kryzsko Commons Student Union Building.
Guster has several popular albums to their credit including "Keep It Together" (Reprise, 2003), and "Guster on Ice: Live From Portland, Maine" (Warner Bros.) released in 2004 as a CD/DVD set. The band also was featured in January 2004 on the PBS television program Austin City Limits.
Reviewers have said Guster has a unique sound based mostly on acoustic guitars, bongos, and short, catchy tunes about real life scenes and situations.
The concert also features two popular bands on the college touring circuit: Carbon Leaf, and The Zambonis.

| WSU Rochester Center Hosts Transfer Planning Session |
Students interested in attending the Winona State University Rochester Center are encouraged to attend a special Transfer Planning Session, on Wednesday, April 13, from 5-7 p.m., at the University Center Rochester.
The event includes information about the Winona State University Rochester Center departments and programs, the Rochester campus, Student Services and career opportunities. Those attending can also meet with faculty and staff.
Information is also provided on how current community college, technical college or four year college students can transfer to Winona State University. The session also discusses how the 2+2 Program works and what options are available for graduate school or work after the bachelor’s degree.
Registration is scheduled from 5-5:30 p.m., followed by a welcome with refreshments and door prizes. |

| Winona Experience Information Fair Scheduled |
| The Winona Experience Student Communication Committee at Winona State University hosts an Information Fair Wednesday, April 13, and Thursday, April 14, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., in the Student
Activities Center, at Kryzsko Commons.
The event allows students to visit several different booths and pick-up information on how the Winona Experience will impact their lives.
There is also a question and answer session scheduled, "Talk With Us," from Noon-1 p.m., in the Art Tye Lounge, in Kryzsko Commons. This session allows students to speak with other students and faculty members regarding questions related to the Winona Experience.
