Theatre and Dance Department Presents: The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told

Winona State University Department of Theatre and Dance presents The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, a gay fable by Paul Rudnick.  What if God had created Adam and Steven instead of Adam and Eve, or Jane and Mabel instead of Cain and Abel? In Rudnick's fable, this dream becomes a physical reality when Adam dreams himself back to the creation of the world. Visiting Assistant Professor Antonia Sophia Krueger will direct this production, with gay and gender-related themes. Scenic design is by Assistant Professor Peggy Sannerud, costumes by staff costumer Susan Bratt and lighting by student Jamin O’Malley.

Performances for The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told are Wednesday through Sunday, Dec. 1-5, at 7:30 p.m., in the black box theater. In addition, there is a matinee performance on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m.

The Performing Arts Center Box Office will be open Monday through Friday, Nov. 29- Dec. 3, from 12-5 p.m. The Box Office will also open one hour before each performance. Tickets cost $5 for WSU students and senior citizens, and $7 for the general public. Call the WSU Box Office at
507-457-5235 for ticket information.

The New York Times calls The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told “a testament to the virtues of laughing.”  However, this production is recommended for mature audiences only; scenes include material of a sexually explicit nature, and gay and gender-related themes.

Biology Students Seek Volunteers for Atkins Study

Several seniors working on a capstone/research project are looking for volunteers to participate in their study of the Atkins diet.  In the study, participants are assigned to an Atkins based diet that is primarily foods rich in saturated fats, including mammalian meats such as beef and pork, or a diet rich in polyunsaturated fats, including seafood and poultry. From this study, the students hope to learn the effects of saturated fats versus polyunsaturated fats on total cholesterol, triglycerides (HDL & LDL) and ketones. They also hope the data will determine how to improve the lipid lowering ability of the Atkins diet.

The study will be conducted over a period of four weeks, beginning the week of Jan. 10 and ending on Feb. 11. The participants will be asked to attend two brief informational meetings, one on Dec. 17, the other in mid-January. The benefit of participating in this study is not only weight loss, but free data regarding cholesterol level, a lipid analysis record, a caloric intake record and the book, The Atkins Essentials.

The study is under the supervision of Ted Wilson, biology. For more information, contact Tonya Pleschourt at tjplesch8670@webmail.winona.edu, or phone at 507-301-8395.
