The search for the next Winona State University president continues to move forward.
The Presidential Screening Committee has reviewed more than 60 applications over the past six weeks. Minnesota State University-Moorhead President Roland Barden is the chair of the Presidential Screening Committee. He said the committee is in the processes of interviewing candidates.
"By the end of January," said Barden, "the committee will have selected and interviewed, off-campus, the dozen or so candidates whom they believe, on the basis of application materials, would be best able to provide very effective presidential leadership within and for the Winona State University community."
The tentative schedule calls for finalists to be invited to WSU for second interviews in late February. The committee expects to reduce the pool to approximately five finalists.
"Selection of the next president," said Barden, "is a decision critical to the future vitality and ambitions of Winona State University."
The search committee's recommendation for the next WSU president should be forwarded to MnSCU Chancellor James McCormick's office in early March.
The next WSU president should be appointed shortly after this period of time.
