WSU Receives Awards from MnSCU

Winona State University receives two awards that recognize leadership and team effort for excellence in financial and facilities management.  The awards were recently presented at the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Chief Financial and Facilities Officers meeting.

WSU was honored with one of the Excellence in Financial Management awards and a second honor was given to Dick Lande, facilities manager, who was one of the several people honored with the Outstanding Service Award.

Since 1997, the awards program publicly recognizes the significant contributions and outstanding efforts of the system's colleges, universities and employees.  Facilities management awards were added in 1999.

"This program presents a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the terrific work done at colleges and universities across Minnesota," said Laura King, vice chancellor and chief financial officer for MnSCU. "Their outstanding leadership has improved services to students and staff at a time of
financial pressures."

The award winners were selected from nominations made by presidents and university leadership.  King said the program is designed to further the goals and objectives of the Board of Trustees.
