Alumni Society Sponsors Steamboat Day Parade Float

Winona State University's Alumni Society sponsors a float in the 58th annual Winona Steam Boat Days' parade on Sunday, June 19, at 1:01 p.m.

The WSU Alumni Society float is crafted on top of a flatbed truck with purple Mylar fringe around the edges.  Jim Danneker, of the WSU theatre department, constructed a homemade arch that reads "Winona State University, " which is the float's focus.

Distinguished alumni, hall of fame members, the alumni board of directors and possibly the new president ride on the WSU Alumni Society float, which passes more than 25,000 spectators on its one-mile parade route.

The WSU cheer team will be lined up behind the float performing dance routines for the spectators down Broadway Street.

"WSU has been part of the Winona community for 147 years, and with more than 49,000 alumni, and more than 3,000 just in Winona County, WSU is pleased to help celebrate in the shared history," said Kim Zeiher, WSU alumni director.
