The Winona State University National Broadcasting Society (NBS) participated in the Relay For Life on April 9 and April 10.
Relay For Life is an overnight event designed to celebrate cancer survivorship and raise money for the American Cancer Society. During this event, teams of people gathered at Winona State University to take turns walking or running laps.
The National Broadcasting society team had eleven members who participated in the Relay For Life event. Those members were: Kristin Classey, Candace Ewers, Andrea Bowe, Krista Mesmer, Ben Nelson, Ben Bicknese, Brian Mogren, Gillian Key, Andy Doyle, Lacy Buck and Seth Tegtmeier.
Each member of the team was expected to raise at least $100 for the American Cancer Society. Much of this money was raised by selling purple hope bracelets to families and friends of chapter members.
“Relay For Life is a lot of fun,” said member, Kristin Classey. “It is great knowing that we are raising so much money to help the American Cancer Society.”
The chapter was excited to participate in Relay For Life, and is planning more volunteer and community service events for next year.
