Southeast Minnesota Counselor Association recognizes area counselors for their dedication and support of young people in Southeastern Minnesota.
Carl Stange, WSU's director of admissions and awards chair for the Southeast Minnesota School Counselor Association, recognizes the five area recipients who received annual Counselor of the Year awards on April 8.
The counselor association recognizes Angela Hutchins of Riverside Elementary, Rochester, Minn., as the Elementary School Counselor of the Year; Scott Mahle of Kellogg Middle Schoool, Rochester, Minn., as the Middle/Junior School Counselor of the Year; Shannon Brown of Byron High School, Byron, Minn., as the Secondary School Counselor of the Year; Jeanne Poppe of Riverland Community College, Albert Lea, Minn., as the Post Secondary Counselor of the Year; and Sara Groven of Lourdes High School, Rochester, Minn., as the Administrator of the Year.
Winona State University hosts the Southeast Minnesota School Counselor Association meetings and training sessions.
