WSU Hosts New University Brown Bag Dialogue

Winona State University is hosting the New University Brown Bag dialogue Wednesday, May 4, at Noon, in the Maxwell Leadership Center, GL 137 or on streaming video.

This week’s dialogue focuses on how academic projects can be funded for the New University through the Implementation Plan Request process. The Implementation Plan Request includes four major project areas beginning this summer, so students can experience some “new university” changes with the start of the fall semester. Limited funds are available to support faculty and staff who want to be involved in learning communities to accomplish this work. It is anticipated that members of current work groups will want to begin implementing the projects they have been designing.

Faculty and staff who want to be involved in learning communities for this first wave of summer activity should submit plans for review, beginning on Wednesday, May 11.  Plans may be submitted beyond this time, but any plans requesting extra duty days for this summer or reassigned time for next fall must be submitted by Tuesday, May 31.

This invitation will be extended again in August to solicit a second wave of plans from faculty and staff who want to join or create implementation learning communities at the start of the academic year.

A description of major project areas, information about preparing and submitting plans and criteria by which plans will be evaluated are available on the web, at http://www.winona.edu/newuniversity/Impl_plan_request.doc.

For more information, contact the Vice President of Academic Affairs, in Somsen Hall, room 211 or srichardson@winona.edu. and Carol Anderson, Coordinator for New University Planning, in Maxwell Hall, room 145 or canderson@winona.edu.
