WSU Receives Grant from Target for Lyceum Series

Winona State University receives it's seventh annual $1,000 grant from Target Stores for the Lyceum Series, which is a yearly lecture and fine arts series at the university.

"The goal of the Lyceum Series is to provide educational and cultural opportunities for the campus community and the general public," said Nancy Peterson, WSU director of grants and sponsored projects.

Every year since 1998, Target stores has given Winona State's Lyceum Series a $1,000 grant to aid in the underwriting of the entire Lyceum Series.

"Any money we can bring in from external sources to pay for the $30,000 costs of the Lyceum Series helps us do that much more for the students," said Peterson.

Most Lyceum Series events, which include concerts and speakers, are free and open to the public.

If there is a small cost for attendance to an event, it goes back into the costs of the Lyceum Series, said Peterson.
