The Winona State University Department of Music presents “An Evening of Two Pianos” performed by Marta Fisk and Barbara DuFresne Tuesday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m., in the WSU Performing Arts Center.
The program features piano ensembles influenced in part by the rhythms and harmonies of Spain. A tango appears in the “Capriccio,” by Francis Poulenc and a Brazilian samba appears in the “Scaramouche,” by Darius Milhaud.
“Four Piece Suite,” by Richard Rodney Bennett, offers a look at popular music including ragtime, country Western, rock and a samba. “Danses Andalouses,” by Spanish composer Mauel Infante, concludes the program.
A native of Chile, Marta Fisk currently lives in Wabasha, Minn. She received her piano performance and piano pedagogy degrees from the Conservatorio Nacional de Musica de la Universidad de Chile. She also received a master’s degree in piano performance from Eastern Michigan University. She teaches piano at the Madsen-Hoffman Studio in Rochester, Minn. and in The Children’s Conservatory, which she established in Wabasha.
Barbara DuFresne received her bachelor and master degrees in piano performance from the University of Maryland. She is a faculty member at Winona State University where she teaches piano and piano ensemble.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.
