New Student Registration & Orientation

Registration and orientation mark the beginning of your Warrior journey. These events prepare students for academic success while giving them the opportunity to get to know other Winona State students.

New Student Registration

It gets real at registration. Learn about how registration events will set you up for your first semester. 

Winona Campus
This day-long event has everything you need to get started in the fall.

All incoming students (and up to 2 guests) should plan to attend one of our in-person Registration Days or a Virtual New Student Registration event.

During registration, you will: 

  • Get academic advising to build your class schedule
  • Take your ID photo
  • Choose your laptop
  • Learn about campus resources

There is an $80 fee for these registration events that will be applied to your student account. This fee covers expenses such as advisors’ time, ID card processing, and informational mailings.

Rochester Campus
The WSU-Rochester Campus offers registration opportunities both online and in-person.

Whatever format you prefer, you will get individualized help from an advisor to discuss academic plans, register for classes, and answer any questions you may have.

Schedule a Registration Advising Meeting 

To schedule an appointment or register for an Advising & Registration Event, contact the Student & Campus Services Office at wsurstudentservices@winona.edu or 507.285.7100.      

Please provide your name, email, and major when making an appointment.

Before attending your registration meeting, you should complete these 2 steps. 

Zoom Account

Set up your student Zoom account through the Minnesota State system before meeting with an advisor on Zoom.

Email Account

Log into your student email account using your StarID username and password

This is the official WSU communication system and the only email that we will use to contact you.

Graduate Students
New graduate students will register with the help of their faculty advisor.

Welcome Week

On the Winona campus, New Student Welcome Week is Aug. 22-25, 2024. Residence Hall move-in is Aug. 22 from 9am-4pm.

If you have housing-related questions, contact the Housing & Residence Life Office.

Warrior Expeditions
The Warrior Expeditions is a 3-day outdoor pre-orientation program designed to welcome students to Winona State and the region.

You will:

  • Move in early
  • Start meeting new friends before classes begin
  • Go camping, rock climbing, hiking, and paddling to explore the outdoor resources around Winona
  • Earn a credit before the semester begins

This program is a unique opportunity to make strong, lasting connections with other incoming students, spend a few days in the beautiful Mississippi River Valley and meet current student leaders whose insights can help your first year be a success.

Orientation

Orientation is handled differently on the Winona and Rochester campuses.

Winona Campus
Welcome Week includes some orientation events to help you adjust to college, both socially and academically. 

Orientation continues throughout your first semester with the Orientation 100 course.

This one-credit class teaches you everything you need to be successful at WSU and enjoy your college experience.

Rochester Campus
While WSU-Rochester students do not have an in-person Orientation 100 course, we provide all the resources you need to succeed online and on our Rochester campus.
