Historical society to teach about eating locally

The Winona County Historical Society, in conjunction with the Land Stewardship Project, will present “How to Eat Local in Winter—and Why!” at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the historical society museum.
This is the culminating event to the six-week local run of the Smithsonian Institution’s traveling exhibit: “Key Ingredients:
America by Food.” While “Key Ingredients” uses photographs
and artifacts to examine the evolution of American dining and cooking habits, the Feb. 2 event is designed to put a face on the farmers and others who bring the region good food year-round.
Speakers will offer a primer on the varied sources of local produce, dairy products and meat, as well as a few reasons why supporting our regional farmers is good for everyone concerned.
For more information call the Society at 507-454-2723.
