Winona State University hosts the 2008 Green Building Summit Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. and 6:30-9 p.m. in the Tau Center Rotunda, West Campus.
The 1:30-4:30 p.m. session is titled “Green Buildings/Green Communities.” It is aimed at building and design professionals, facilities staff, and serious non-professionals.
The evening session is focused on green building opportunities for homeowners.
Presenters include Michael Anschel of Otagawa-Anschel Design Build and Rick Carter of LBC Corporation. Panel discussions on solar and geothermal heating projects, as well as green roofs and conservation initiatives, are scheduled, and vendors will be on hand to demonstrate available products and services.
Cost to attend the afternoon session is $15. The evening session is free and open to the public.
This event is sponsored by the Winona County EDA, Sustain Winona Partnership, WSU’s Colleges of Science and Engineering and Liberal Arts, Excel Energy and Tri-Country Electric.

| Ketchup with Prairie Home Companion |

In honor of the upcoming visit of “A Prairie Home Companion,” Winona State University sponsors Ketchup Kontests at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb.16 in the Purple Rooms, Kryzsko Commons.
The contests are inspired by messages aired on “A Prairie Home Companion” that extol the virtues of ketchup’s “natural mellowing agents.”
Adults may participate in the Ketchup Recipe Kontest and children ages five to 14 are invited to participate in a Ketchup Arts Kontest.'
Adults may enter recipes that use ketchup as an ingredient.
Prizes are awarded for the best appetizer, entrée, dessert and best in show.
Recipes entered must include at least one half cup of ketchup.
The deadline to enter a printed recipe is Thursday, Feb. 14.
The first 20 entries will be invited to bring their prepared recipes for judging on Saturday, Feb. 16.
There are two ketchup art kontests for children.
Prizes awarded in two categories, children ages 5-9 and 10-14. Children may submit artwork in any
medium that uses an image of ketchup or the real thing.
Deadline for entry is at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16.
The contests are endorsed by the City of Winona Fine Arts Commission.
