WSU Receives 2007 Award for Excellence in Management
 

The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system announces Winona State University has received a 2007 award for Excellence in Financial Management.
The awards program, which began in 1997, publicly recognizes the outstanding contributions of the system’s college and university employees who work in finance and facilities management.
Award winners were selected from nominations made by presidents and college and university leadership.
The Excellence in Financial Management award is given to universities and colleges who have made significant contributions to increased efficiency and effectiveness of finances and administrative services throughout the institution.

 
WSU Offers Adult Travel Seminar to Egypt
 
Winona State University offers an Adult Travel Seminar to Egypt, May 5 through 17.
The tour is a first-hand learning experience of Middle Eastern history and culture, led by Mary Ann Pevas, Winona State economics professor and resident Middle East expert.
Pevas expertise will enrich visits to sites including the Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, Luxor and the Nile River.
The cost for the travel seminar is $4,140 for double occupancy and $3,840 for single occupancy.
The cost includes round-trip airfare between Minneapolis and Cairo, three meals per day (excluding beverages), first-class lodging in Egypt, entrance fees and transportation to included sites; a cruise along the Nile River, visa fees and travel insurance.
Space is limited. Registration is due by March 15, with a $750 non-refundable deposit. Full payment is due April 17.
 
WSU and WSU Students Receive Volunteer Awards
 
Winona State University was awarded the Helping Hands Award at the Circle of Giving event Feb. 6, hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of Rochester, Minn.
According to Christine Quinn, associate vice president for academic affairs at WSU, the award was given as a result of much hard work by WSU faculty, staff and students who engaged with the Boys and Girls Club in new and different ways that were mutually beneficial.
The WSU-Rochester social work program regularly places student interns at the Boys and Girls Club.
