I would like to extend a thank you to both the Mission Winona group and the various Winona State students who have been volunteering with the Elder Network chore service (Elder Network is a local non-profit that serves seniors in the areas of Chore Service, Respite Care, and Peer Support). The Mission Winona students have “adopted” three seniors who live close to campus and whenever there is a measurable snowfall, I can count on them to do snow removal.
Other WSU student volunteers have been helping with snow removal, seasonal cleaning, window cleaning, grass cutting and light housekeeping for local seniors. It is great to know that the college students are reaching out to community members and offering assistance that makes the lives of local citizens easier. I hear comments from our seniors on a regular basis on what a great job the students have done and that they are so grateful for the help.
Elder Network appreciates Winona State student volunteers and wants to let them know they have indeed made a difference in the lives of others living in this fine city. Thank you!
