Winona State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance announces two students have been awarded certificates of commendation from the American College Theater Festival.
WSU theatre major Eileen Moeller, of Elgin, Ill., was awarded for her work as stage manager for the production “James and the Giant Peach,” which ran April 13-14, 2007, at WSU.
WSU alumna Erin Dostal of Rochester, Minn., was also awarded for her work as costume designer for “James and the Giant Peach.” In addition to her certificate, Dostal¹s costumes were featured in a costume parade at the American College Theater Festival, Jan. 21-26 in Omaha, Neb.
 
Dept. of Music hosts Songfest
 

Winona State University’s Department of Music hosts the MENC Elementary Choral Songfest 2008 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday on the Performing Arts Center Main Stage and in Somsen Auditorium.
This festival includes 480 students from 15 area schools in Southeastern Minnesota and Southwest Wisconsin.
The clinician for the event is Dr. Angela Broeker, Director of Choral Activities and Associate Professor of Music at the University of St. Thomas.
The festival is meant to promote music in schools, provide an educational and enriching choral experience for elementary students, and generate enthusiasm for choral music and group singing.
