DESCRIPTION:Join author and veteran Jim Crigler for a presentation on his new book\, “Echoes on the Water: A Veteran’s River Mission to Heal the Wounds of War.” \n\n\n\nFollowing Crigler’s talk\, we invite you to join us for refreshments and a book signing in the Science Laboratory Center Atrium. Copies of “Echoes on the Water” will be available for purchase. \n\n\n\nThis event is free and open to the public. It is also sponsored by the Department of History & Legal Studies. \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Book\n\n\n\n“Echoes on the Water” focuses on Crigler’s 2017 solo canoe trip of the entire length of the Mississippi River from Lake Itasca\, Minnesota\, to New Orleans\, Louisiana. \n\n\n\nThe 2\,300-mile journey was a powerful mission of honor\, raising awareness for Vietnam War Gold Star Families who had been forgotten for decades. \n\n\n\nJim’s story captures the resilience of a soldier-turned-civilian determined to shine a light on the sacrifices of others. \n\n\n\nWith raw honesty and vivid detail\, “Echoes on the Water” blends adventure\, military memoir\, and heartfelt reflection on the lasting wounds of war. \n\n\n\nThe book offers eye-opening insights into the struggles and sacrifices of Vietnam veterans and Gold Star families as well as a message of hope\, healing\, and the enduring power of service. \n\n\n\nAbout the Author\n\n\n\nJim Crigler is a decorated Vietnam combat veteran who bravely served as an army helicopter pilot in the Central Highlands of Vietnam from 1971-1972. \n\n\n\nHe is a dedicated community activist\, public speaker\, and the author of “Mission of Honor: A Moral Compass for a Moral Dilemma.” \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nVenue (Book Talk)\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue (Book Signing)\n\n\n\n\n\nContact\n\n\n\n\n\nDisclaimer\n\n\n\nThe views and opinions expressed by the speakers and programs hosted at Winona State University do not necessarily reflect the views or positions of the university or of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system.
