DESCRIPTION:Spend the evening with authors Josina Manu Maltzman and Teo Shannon. \n\n\n\nJoin us for a public reading by Josina Manu Maltzman from their chapbook essay\, “Ride Safe: One dyke’s journey to healing from the West Bank to the West Coast.” Teo Shannon will also be reading from his debut poetry collection\, “A Chronology of Blood.” \n\n\n\nThis event is sponsored by the departments of English and Women’s\, Gender & Sexuality Studies. \n\n\n\nThis event is also sponsored by WSU’s PRISM student organization\, the Art of the Rural\, and the Cedar Tree Project. \n\n\n\n\n\n    \n        \n            \n                        \n            \n\nAbout Josina Manu Maltzman\n\n\n\nJosina Manu Maltzman (all pronouns) is a writer\, carpenter\, and community organizer working for liberation in Palestine since 2000.  \n\n\n\nJosina’s writings include “Ride Safe\,” an essay exploring the individual’s role in contributing to community safety\, and “Protective Presence in the West Bank\,” which was awarded the 2025 Plentitudes Prize in Nonfiction.  \n\n\n\nIn addition to their work as a writer\, Josina is a core member of Relationships Evolving Possibilities (REP)\, a community safety project in the Twin Cities.  \n\n\n\nVisit Josina’s website to learn more about their writing and how it is shaped by over 20 years in the trades and their organizing work as an anti-Zionist Jew. \n\n\n        \n    \n\n\n\n\n    \n        \n            \n                        \n            \n\nAbout Teo Shannon\n\n\n\nTeo Shannon (he/him) is a queer\, chronically ill Latino poet based in Winona\, Minnesota. He holds an MFA from Pacific University in Oregon and a PhD from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. \n\n\n\nTeo is the cofounder and co-editor-in-chief of “Cotton Xenomorph\,” a journal dedicated to flash fiction\, poetry\, and visual art. \n\n\n\nHis debut poetry collection\, “A Chronology of Blood\,” was published by the University of New Mexico Press on Sept. 2. DESCRIPTION:In honor of Women’s History Month\, join us on March 19 for a reading of the play “My Name Is Rachel Corrie” (edited by Alan Rickman and Katharine Viner)\, with performances interspersed throughout. \n\n\n\nThis play excerpts the diaries of Rachel Corrie\, who was murdered in 2003 by Israeli forces while protecting a Palestinian family. \n\n\n\nOpening performances are by Sana Wazwaz and Andrea Shaker.
