Alicia Schmidt Camacho and Stephen Pitti for their talk\, “Defending Latinx Communities and Their Histories.” \n\n\n\nThis event is sponsored by Winona State’s Office of Equity & Inclusive Excellence as part of their Expanding Perspectives Speaker Series. \n\n\n\nThe Expanding Perspectives Speaker Series brings scholars\, educators\, advocates\, and community leaders to campus to engage the WSU community in meaningful conversations about culture\, identity\, history\, equity\, and the issues shaping our world. \n\n\n\nThis event is open to anyone via Zoom or in person at the Bluffs Lounge in Kryzsko Commons. If you opt to attend virtually\, we’ll send you the link after registering. \n\n\n\n    Register for This Event\n\n\n\n\n\n    \n        \n            \n                        \n            \n\nAbout Dr. Alicia Schmidt Camacho\n\n\n\nDr. Alicia Schmidt Camacho is a Yale Professor of Ethnicity\, Race\, & Migration whose scholarship explores migration\, social movements\, and cultural politics in North America\, with a focus on labor organizing\, gender violence\, border governance\, and migrant culture. \n\n\n        \n    \n\n\n\n    \n\n                    \n            \n\nAbout Dr. Stephen Pitti\n\n\n\nDr. Stephen Pitti is a Yale historian and scholar of Latino & Ethnic Studies. His research focuses on Chicano history\, immigration\, race\, and civil rights.
