They will include information on the situation at-hand, what action to take, and where to find additional information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Severe winter weather cancellations and closures are communicated through the WSU Alert system via text, voice, and email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emergencies representing an immediate threat to health or safety (i.e. tornado, active shooter, gas leak, flash flooding) also will be communicated via full-screen pop-up alerts on university-owned desktop and laptop computers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These messages will also be shown on campus digital signage displays and through the AwareAlert app, for those who have it downloaded to their personal mobile device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the WSU Alert system is activated, emergency information will also appear in a WSU Alert Banner on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/\">WSU homepage<\/a>&nbsp;and be posted on official&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WinonaStateU\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WSU Facebook page<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                            <div class=\"h3\">Sign Up for WSU Alerts<\/div>\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<div class=\"wsu-block tabs\">\n\n    <div class=\"tabs-nav\">\n        <button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-1\">WSU Student<\/button>\n<button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-2\">WSU Employee<\/button>\n<button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-3\">Community Members<\/button>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"tabs-content\">\n        <button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">WSU Student<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>As a student, you are automatically signed up to receive WSU Alerts via university email and on your university-issued laptop.<\/p>\n<p>To sign up for WSU Alerts via text or call on your personal mobile device:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into <a href=\"https:\/\/eservices.minnstate.edu\/esession\/authentication.do?campusId=074\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Student eServices<\/a><\/li>\n<li>In the main navigation menu, select \u201cAccount Management\u201d and then \u201cAddress Info\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Select \u201cTurn Text Messaging On or Off\u201d and review info under #3 \u201cCell Phone Info\u201d\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Field is Blank<\/strong>: If the \u201cCell Phone Number\u201d field is blank, you may add your number, then click \u201cSave Cell Info,\u201d and follow the prompts.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Number is Outdated or Incorrect<\/strong>: If the number listed is outdated or incorrect, you may update the number, then click \u201cSave Cell Info,\u201d and follow the prompts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>To receive a pop-up WSU Alert on your personal mobile device, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/portal.alertaware.com\/srp\/fec00217-5c00-4f91-b9ff-66aa14de894f\/6905fb41-1a21-4e23-9ede-6e5ee36d9003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sign up for an AlertAware account<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Complete the account set-up instructions sent via email<\/li>\n<li>Complete the password reset instruction sent via email<\/li>\n<li>Download AlertAware from the <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/alertaware\/id1635823148\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">App Store<\/a> or from <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.alertaware.mobile&amp;pli=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Play Store<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">WSU Employee<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>As an employee, you are automatically signed up to receive WSU Alerts via university email and on your university-issued laptop.<\/p>\n<p>To sign up for WSU Alerts via text or call on your personal mobile device:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into <a href=\"https:\/\/eservices.minnstate.edu\/esession\/authentication.do?viewLoginForwardName=employeeLogin&amp;campusId=&amp;postAuthUrl=http%3A%2F%2Feservices.minnstate.edu%2Femployee%2Fpublic%2Fsecure%2Fmain%2F#\/institutions\/0074\/person0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Employee eServices<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Select \u201cMy Profile\u201d then \u201cContact Information.\u201d The phone number listed under \u201cMobile Phone\u201d will receive WSU Alerts via voice and text.<\/li>\n<li>If you add or update your \u201cMobile Phone\u201d listing, remember to click \u201cSave\u201d before exiting. class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You&nbsp;do not&nbsp;need to sign up for different WSU Alerts for different campuses (Winona, RCTC, WSU-Rochester on Broadway).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WSU Alert is a comprehensive emergency notification system intended to serve the entire Winona State community, regardless of geographic location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, if you attend classes or work on the Rochester Community and Technical College campus (RCTC), you are encouraged to sign up to receive Emergency Alerts via the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rctc.edu\/services\/safety\/emergency-alerts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">RCTC Alert System<\/a>&nbsp;as well.<\/p>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n
