About the Speaker<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Giiwedin (they\/them) is an Ojibwe Two-Spirit influencer and environmental advocate who shares content about Indigenous culture, environmental justice, and queer Indigenous history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their primary Instagram account (@giiwedinindizhinikaaz<\/a>) has more than 200,000 followers. In 2022, they were recognized as a “20 Under 20 LGBTQ+ Changemaker” by Teen Vogue and The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giiwedin also models in the Native fashion world, walking in Native Fashion Week in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the first Indigenous New York Fashion Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to their online work, Giiwedin advocates for the health of wild rice. They host camps on their land in northern Minnesota where they teach traditional harvesting and processing methods.<\/p>\n\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n
