About the Author<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Darius Atefat-Peckham is an Iranian-American poet and essayist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Darius is the author of “The Book of Kin,” which won the 2023 Autumn House Poetry Prize, and a chapbook titled “How Many Love Poems” (Seven Kitchens Press, 2021). He is also the editor of his mother, Susan Atefat-Peckham’s, posthumous poetry collection, “Deep Are These Distances Between Us.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, he was selected by the Library of Congress as a National Student Poet. In this role, he traveled across the Midwest to teach middle and high school students about the concurrence of grief and joy in literature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Darius grew up in Huntington, West Virginia, attended Interlochen Arts Academy, and received his BA in English and Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations at Harvard. He is currently a Poetry Fellow at the Michener Center for Writers in Austin, Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n
