This can also serve as your program admission audition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Music Scholarship Audition Dates<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Music Department offers renewable yearly awards that range from $500-$3,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Music scholarship audition days have <strong>concluded<\/strong> for the Spring 2026 semester.\u00a0However, we still welcome students to audition for our Music degree programs for the 2026-2027 academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please email Dr. Daniel Sheridan, Music Scholarship Coordinator, at <a href=\"mailto:dsheridan@winona.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dsheridan@winona.edu<\/a> if you have any questions about auditioning for a Winona State Music program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pre-Recorded Auditions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While the WSU Music Department does accept pre-recorded auditions, strong preference is given to students who audition in person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contact Dr. Daniel Sheridan for more info if you&#8217;re unable to travel to the WSU campus for your audition.<\/p>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Audition Materials<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s information to help you prepare for your audition.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-block accordion\">\n        <div class=\"accordion__item\" data-animation=\"fade-in-up\" data-animate=\"true\">\n        <button id=\"Brass\" class=\"accordion__toggle\" title=\"Brass\" aria-pressed=\"false\">\n            Brass        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\">\n            <p>The audition requirements for the brass area are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Chromatic scale and major scales (through four accidentals) using the full range of your instrument<\/li>\n<li>One movement from a major work such as a concerto, sonata, or concert piece<\/li>\n<li>An excerpt, piece, or song from any musical style that best demonstrates your musical ability (such as an etude, another solo piece, a jazz transcription, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>You may be asked to sight-read<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Contact Dr. Melanie Brooks at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:melanie.brooks@winona.edu\">melanie.brooks@winona.edu<\/a>\u00a0if you have questions.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"accordion__item\" data-animation=\"fade-in-up\" data-animate=\"true\">\n        <button id=\"Percussion\" class=\"accordion__toggle\" title=\"Percussion\" aria-pressed=\"false\">\n            Percussion        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\">\n            <p>The audition requirements for the percussion area are:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Snare Drum<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Concert Style<\/li>\n<li>One etude from Mitchell Peters&#8217; &#8220;Intermediate Snare Drum Studies&#8221; or Anthony Cirone&#8217;s &#8220;Portraits in Rhythm&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Suggested Peters Etudes: 12-15<\/li>\n<li>Suggest Cirone Etudes: 4, 5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Rudimental<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One etude from Charley Wilcoxon&#8217;s &#8220;The All American Drummer&#8221; or a similar contest solo<\/li>\n<li>Selected etude should demonstrate a wide variety of rudiments including rolls and flams<\/li>\n<li>Short sight-reading<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Mallets<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One two-mallet solo or etude<\/li>\n<li>Suggested composers &#8211; GH Green, Mitchell Peters<\/li>\n<li>Suggested etudes &#8211; Any from Goldenberg&#8217;s &#8220;Modern School for Xylophone&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Short sight-reading<\/li>\n<li>Be prepared to demonstrate all major scales<\/li>\n<li>Optional four-mallet solo of performer&#8217;s choice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Optional Audition Materials<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students are encouraged, but not required, to submit an additional solo\/etude on Timpani, Drum Set or Multi-Percussion.<\/p>\n<p>Contact Dr. Adam Rappel at <a href=\"mailto:adam.rappel@winona.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">adam.rappel@winona.edu<\/a> if you have questions.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"accordion__item\" data-animation=\"fade-in-up\" data-animate=\"true\">\n        <button id=\"Piano\" class=\"accordion__toggle\" title=\"Piano\" aria-pressed=\"false\">\n            Piano        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\">\n            <p>The audition requirements for the piano area are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Piano students auditioning for scholarships must prepare two pieces from different stylistic periods to be performed from memory<\/li>\n<li>Suitable repertoire could include a contrapuntal work by J.S. Songs performed for state solo competitions are appropriate. You will need to sing a song in English and one in a foreign language<\/li>\n<li>Sight-reading<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Songs from &#8220;26 Italian Songs and Arias,&#8221; published by Alfred and edited by John Glenn Paton, are good audition pieces, as are songs from &#8220;The First Book of Soprano, Mezzo-soprano\/Alto, Tenor or Bass\/Baritone Solos,&#8221; published by G. Schirmer and compiled and edited by Joan Frey Boytim.<\/p>\n<p>Another suggestion would be repertoire from &#8220;Thirty-six Solos for Young Singers,&#8221; published by Hal Leonard and compiled and
