In short, it helps students learn to be independent thinkers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emphasis is balanced between philosophical content and the cultivation of philosophical thinking.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ethics\">Ethics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/4087\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/4087\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ethics minor<\/a>&nbsp;is designed for students who wish to integrate their philosophical and ethical questions into their major program or career path. The minor includes a small number of required philosophy courses as well as flexibility in interdisciplinary electives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students can tailor their minor to focus on ethical issues pertaining to areas such as business, health care, social justice, politics, criminal justice, or the environment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students enrolled in the minor will explore a variety of issues and perspectives. They will also be taught to think critically about significant ethical problems.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"conflict\">Conflict Studies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/3448\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/3448\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Conflict Studies minor<\/a> gives students an opportunity to study violent conflict and its resolution from an interdisciplinary perspective.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program is flexible, with only 2 required courses and a varied list of electives to choose from, so students can tailor their program to meet their own needs and interests.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because violence occurs in so many contexts, a deeper understanding of its nature, causes, and justifications can benefit students pursuing many different career goals such as:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>media and journalism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>government and politics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>international organizations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>military and veterans&#8217;
