But because they also overlap, our curriculum teaches them relation to each other. We focus on how these 3 fields approach problems of sex, gender, and sexuality from various critical angles.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Feminism in Action<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Women\u2019s, Gender &amp; Sexuality Studies (WGSS) Department has been coordinating annual events that celebrate feminism and underrepresented voices for many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These events and programming allow all students\u2014not just WGSS minors\u2014to become leaders and advocates for sustainable change right on campus and within the community.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-block accordion\">\n        <div class=\"accordion__item\" data-animation=\"fade-in-up\" data-animate=\"true\">\n        <button id=\"Women&#039;s_and_Gender_Studies_Consortium\" class=\"accordion__toggle\" title=\"Women&#039;s_and_Gender_Studies_Consortium\" aria-pressed=\"false\">\n            Women&#039;s &amp; Gender Studies Consortium        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\">\n            <p>WSU\u2019s WGSS Program has co-sponsored the <a href=\"https:\/\/consortium.gws.wisc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UW System Women\u2019s and Gender Studies Consortium<\/a>\u00a0since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of WGSS students have presented their original research at this academic conference ranging from topics on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>dismantling a rape culture<\/li>\n<li>Undocuqueer art<\/li>\n<li>feminist activism for Palestinian solidarity<\/li>\n<li>queer youth homelessness<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students have earned research grants for this work.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"accordion__item\" data-animation=\"fade-in-up\" data-animate=\"true\">\n        <button id=\"Women&#039;s_History_Month\" class=\"accordion__toggle\" title=\"Women&#039;s_History_Month\" aria-pressed=\"false\">\n            Women&#039;s History Month        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\">\n            <p>Our department invites speakers to celebrate Women\u2019s History month. Over the years, WGSS has <a href=\"https:\/\/news.winona.edu\/18061\/wsu-womens-history-month-events-to-feature-renowned-activist-among-others\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hosted speakers<\/a>\u00a0such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Loretta Ross, a renowned activist who helped establish the country\u2019s first rape crisis center and coined the phrase \u201creproductive justice\u201d<\/li>\n<li>CeCe McDonald, a Black trans abolitionist<\/li>\n<li>Colette Ghunim, a world-renowned filmmaker sparking social change through documentaries<\/li>\n<li>Rosa Clemente, hip hop activist who ran for Green Party Vice President in 2008<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"accordion__item\" data-animation=\"fade-in-up\" data-animate=\"true\">\n        <button id=\"Take_Back_the_Night\" class=\"accordion__toggle\" title=\"Take_Back_the_Night\" aria-pressed=\"false\">\n            Take Back the Night        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\">\n            <p><a href=\"https:\/\/takebackthenight.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Take Back the Night<\/a>\u00a0(TBTN)\u00a0is a movement aimed to create community, healing, and solidarity for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.<\/p>\n<p>Students are invited to educate and share their stories with other survivors and supporters as well as march in protest on campus and around downtown Winona.<\/p>\n<p>In the past, this event has been co-sponsored by WSU\u2019s RE Initiative and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advocacywinona.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Advocacy Center of Winona<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Read more about TBTN events at WSU:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/winonan.org\/13660\/lifestyle\/health\/students-march-for-first-take-back-the-night-since-overturning-of-roe-v-wade\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Students march for first &#8216;Take Back the Night&#8217; since overturning of Roe v.
