Declare a Pre-HLA (PHLA) major when applying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you are admitted to the university, you will complete the HLA program application. This short application asks about your previous experience and your long-term goals so that we can better advise you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Admission Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Before admission to the HLA program, students will need to demonstrate that they:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have earned an associate\u2019s degree<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hold a minimum of junior standing (60+ credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have completed the Communication requirement (Goal 1) of Winona State&#8217;s General Education Program (GEP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrate current or previous experience in a healthcare-related field<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do not meet these requirements, contact us to discuss your options and next steps.<\/p>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"grad\">Apply for the Healthcare Leadership Master&#8217;s Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll complete one application to apply to Winona State Graduate Studies and the Healthcare Leadership master&#8217;s (MHL) program at the same time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-block tabs\">\n\n    <div class=\"tabs-nav\">\n        <button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-1\">Undergraduate + Graduate Path<\/button>\n<button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-2\">Graduate Only Path<\/button>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"tabs-content\">\n        <button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">Undergraduate + Graduate Path<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>Students can enroll in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/academics\/programs\/healthcare-leadership-administration\/\">HLA undergraduate online degree completion program<\/a> with the intention to graduate with the MHL master\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n<p>Talk to your advisor about your intentions to continue to the graduate program and they will make the graduate courses available to you.<\/p>\n<p>The HLA undergraduate major will take up to 9 credits at the graduate level that will apply to both degrees and accelerate their MHL program completion.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">Graduate Only Path<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>Students with a 4-year undergraduate degree in a related field along with health-, allied health- or healthcare-related professional experience can apply to the MHL master\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MHL Admission Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Students with a 2.75 cumulative GPA in a related field of study from an accredited university along with health-, allied health- or healthcare-related professional experience are eligible for program admission.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Major GPA will also be considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MHL Application Materials<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the information you\u2019ll need to provide in your application, you must submit the following materials:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-block tabs\">\n\n    <div class=\"tabs-nav\">\n        <button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-1\">Current Resume<\/button>\n<button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-2\">Admission Essay<\/button>\n<button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-3\">2 Recommendation Letters<\/button>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"tabs-content\">\n        <button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">Current Resume<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>An overview of your:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>education<\/li>\n<li>work history<\/li>\n<li>leadership experience<\/li>\n<li>scholarships<\/li>\n<li>honors and awards<\/li>\n<li>volunteer service activities<\/li>\n<li>other relevant information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">Admission Essay<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>In your admission essay, please address the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Explain why data is important in health care and why healthcare leaders should use data. Use evidence from literature to support your ideas with APA in-text citations (include an APA reference list at the end of the essay that includes your sources).<\/li>\n<li>Provide an example of when you have used data in your professional role and what the outcome was.<\/li>\n<li>Your capstone will involve using data to execute a continuous improvement project at your organization. What are you interested in doing such a project on? Will you have access to data and resources in your organization to execute it?<\/li>\n<li>What are your career goals post-graduation and how does this degree support you in fulfilling that achievement?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The admission essay must be no longer than 3 pages (excluding your reference page), double spaced, and in size 11 font.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">2 Recommendation Letters<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>Written recommendations from professional relationships who can attest to your qualifications for graduate study.<\/p>\n<p>Letters should include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reference&#8217;s professional relationship with applicant<\/li>\n<li>Reference\u2019s professional role\/title<\/li>\n<li>Examples of applicant\u2019s leadership experiences<\/li>\n<li>Examples of applicant\u2019s professional writing and communication experiences<\/li>\n<li>Overall ranking for graduate study<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Carefully review the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/HHL-Statement-of-Understanding-2021.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www2.winona.edu\/hla\/Media\/HHL-Statement-of-Understanding.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Statement of Understanding Form<\/a> (PDF), so you are aware of your rights and responsibilities. Applicants are encouraged to save and print their own copy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Healthcare Leadership &amp; Administration Faculty Admissions committee will review your application materials and determine if you will advance to an online meeting with faculty.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the faculty interview, we\u2019ll determine program admission.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transfer Credits &amp;
