concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Around one in five Americans experience a mental health or addiction disorder each year.&nbsp;Do you know what to do when someone near you has a panic attack or is in crisis?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a skills-based, experiential, and evidence-based training program where you learn a <strong>five-step action plan<\/strong> that can be used to help those in need:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Assess for risk of suicide or harm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Listen non-judgmentally<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Give reassurance and information<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage appropriate professional help<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage self-help and other support strategies<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Mental Health Matters in the Workplace<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>About 10.8 million full-time workers have a substance use disorder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As many as 35 million workdays are lost each year due to mental illness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Untreated mental illness in the workplace costs businesses $105 billion each year \u2013 mostly due to lost productivity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Benefits of MHFA in the Workplace<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Training employees about how to support mental health can help:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reduce stigma around mental health issues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increase employees\u2019 understanding around mental health and substance use<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increase likelihood that employees will reach out to someone who may be facing a mental health or substance use challenge<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teach employees how to connect a distressed person with the appropriate resources, in accordance with company \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Flexible Training Formats<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The eight-hour course can be scheduled in two-hour or greater blocks of time and held virtually or in-person to fit your
