WSU is located near the Mississippi River Valley, surrounded by bluffs. Our Southeastern Minnesota area offers prairies, woodlands, and aquatic systems where students can engage in field investigations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ecology and Environmental Science will have the opportunity to perform studies using Garvin Heights and the Krueger Woods\u2014 both owned by WSU\u2014as well as the surrounding Upper Mississippi River Wildlife and Fish Refuge.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Biology Department owns 5 boats, allowing for students to gain access to local waterways, and other ecosystems not otherwise accessible. We also have specialized field equipment to conduct studies in those areas.<\/p>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Large River Studies Center<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Large River Studies Center (LRSC) provides undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct research on large river ecosystems and associated bodies of water.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This mission was established in recognition of the critical importance of educating students on the importance of research as part of their total educational experience and to provide a better understanding of the fundamental role of science\u2014addressing questions relevant to science and society.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The LRSC is also responsible for disseminating information about the upper Mississippi River and other large river ecosystems to local, regional, and scientific
