Students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pltw.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Project Lead the Way<\/a> is the nation&#8217;s leading provider of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Incoming students can receive credit for a Composite Materials Engineering           <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fundamentals of Engineering Exam<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before graduation, all CME students must take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a computer-based exam administered at specific times of the year by NCEES-approved Pearson Vue test centers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exam consists of 110 multiple-choice questions and takes about 6 hours to complete, allowing for a 25-minute break and time to complete a             <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"lab-safety\">Lab Safety &amp; Hazardous Materials<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Follow safety protocol and use these precautions whenever using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/academics\/colleges\/science-engineering\/composite-materials-engineering-department\/facilities-equipment\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"12259\">CME department\u2019s facilities and equipment<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Permission for access to the labs during non-business hours will be granted by the instructor on a case-by-case basis. Students are only allowed to enter the building if accompanied by one or more other students.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-block accordion\">\n        <div class=\"accordion__item\" data-animation=\"fade-in-up\" data-animate=\"true\">\n        <button id=\"Material_Safety_Data_Sheets\" class=\"accordion__toggle\" title=\"Material_Safety_Data_Sheets\" aria-pressed=\"false\">\n            Material Safety Data Sheets        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\">\n            <ul>\n<li>Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) need to be consulted before working with any chemicals in the labs<\/li>\n<li>SDSs can be found in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/chemmanagement.ehs.com\/9\/39ABD836-72E5-4CED-92C9-708731CAFC19\/ebinder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online materials database<\/a><\/li>\n<li>No materials are to be brought into the labs without the permission of the instructor and, when granted, a copy of the accompanying SDS must be provided to the instructor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"accordion__item\" data-animation=\"fade-in-up\" data-animate=\"true\">\n        <button id=\"Emergency_Equipment\" <ul>\n<li>Locate the fire extinguishers, first aid kits and other safety equipment available in the labs<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"accordion__content\">\n            <ul>\n<li>When operating equipment, make sure controls are set to zero before starting<\/li>\n<li>Do not exceed the manufacturer&#8217;s specifications while protective equipment (gloves, NIOSH\/MSHA-approved air-purifying respirator with the appropriate cartridges, etc.) as recommended in the SDSs should be worn at all times while working with the
