Programs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WSU\u2019s Geoscience programs provide students with a discovery-based curriculum rich in field and research opportunities.&nbsp;Our programs will prepare students for a broad spectrum of careers or graduate school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Geoscience curriculum is focused on developing and deepening observational skills, hypothesis building, idea testing and critical thinking\u2014while also providing a foundational liberal arts education.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel class=\"wp-block-heading\">Majors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our department has it all\u2014we offer 2 Bachelor of Science programs, a Bachelor of Teaching program, and a Bachelor of Major<\/button>\n<button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-2\">BT Major<\/button>\n<button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-3\">BA Major<\/button>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"tabs-content\">\n        <button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">BS Major<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>We offer 2 BS majors: <a href=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/3243\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Environmental Science<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/3234\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Geology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Both BS majors provide students with the classroom, laboratory and field aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>In partnership with the College of Education, we offer the <a href=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/2948\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BT major Earth Science Teaching<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Through both science and teacher education courses, this major prepares students to become licensed high school and middle school href=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/2862\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Geoscience minor<\/a> is a great option for students majoring in other disciplines who want to enhance their degree.<\/p>\n<p>This minor also provides students with a background in the field and laboratory skills that geologists and environmental scientists rely href=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/4086\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Geospatial Information Science minor<\/a>\u00a0provides students with a background in powerful computing technology used to solve problems with mapping and spatial analytics.<\/p>\n<p>This minor is great for both Geoscience majors and many other majors.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n disciplines in many ways.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Employment <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bls.gov\/ooh\/life-physical-and-social-science\/geoscientists.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opportunities and compensation in the geosciences<\/a> have rapidly grown in recent years, and the&nbsp;U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics&nbsp;forecasts continued growth during the next decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Geoscience majors are equipped with a wide range of skills that open doors to countless possibilities.
