In addition, you&#8217;ll work with the same data technologies as working professionals, making sure you&#8217;re prepared for employment upon graduation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You might be a Data Science major if&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You love drawing insights from big data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You enjoy working with unconventional data sources.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You like to write code.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You are interested in learning about a variety of data tools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Review the <a href=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/3807\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/3807\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Data Science Major Map<\/a> (PDF) for an idea of what your course schedule might be each semester. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">First in the Midwest&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Winona State created the first undergraduate program in Data Science in the upper Midwest.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/ooh\/math\/data-scientists.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Data Science professions expected to&nbsp;grow 35% by 2032<\/a>, we wanted to create a program to help meet the industry demand.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This degree program requires knowledge from statistics, computer science, and a domain-specific application area.
