The Math Education Program at WSU prepares future educators who specialize in the various fields of math. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We offer both our major and minor in collaboration with the College of Education<\/a>. Students will take courses in mathematics and statistics, as well as the Professional Education Sequence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Unlike other math programs, the Math Education program requires admission to the College of Education<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You might be a Math Education major if: <\/p>\n\n\n\n This major is a great option for those who know that they want to teach math at the middle or high school level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n You will take a variety of math classes in subject areas like calculus, algebra, statistics, and theory. In addition, you\u2019ll complete teacher-specific courses about teaching strategies, philosophies, and classroom management. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In addition to coursework, you will also complete a semester of student teaching. This opportunity will give you hands-on experience in the classroom, so that upon graduation you\u2019re prepared to teach a class of your own. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Use these resources to help you plan your semesters, or just get an idea of what your schedule may look like as a Math Education student. <\/p>\n\n\n\n This minor is perfect for those majoring in another Teacher Education Licensure program and want preparation to teach middle school math. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Middle Level Mathematics minor will give students additional expertise outside of their major.
