{"id":14079,"date":"2026-07-14T11:34:39","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T16:34:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/academics\/?page_id=14079"},"modified":"2026-07-14T11:34:40","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T16:34:40","slug":"wound-ostomy-continence-nursing-education","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/academics\/colleges\/nursing-health-sciences\/graduate-nursing-department\/programs\/wound-ostomy-continence-nursing-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Wound, Ostomy, &amp; Continence Nursing Education Graduate Certificate Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Winona State University&#8217;s Graduate Nursing Department is proud to offer an accredited Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Education Program (WOCNEP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WSU&#8217;s WOCNEP is a fully online, 16-credit professional training program designed to provide experienced registered nurses with the education they need to care for patients with wound, ostomy, continence, and foot and nail care needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learners who successfully complete this graduate program are eligible to sit for the certification exams offered by the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/wocncb.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification Board<\/a>&nbsp;(WOCNCB).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a rigorous certificate program, designed to give nurses an unsurpassed education as they prepare to provide this much needed specialty care to patients. Classes are taught asynchronously online and are structured and led by experienced instructors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The WSU WOCNEP is fully accredited by the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wocn.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WOC Nurses Society<\/a> (WOCN) through February 2029.<\/p>\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Apply to the WOC Nursing Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applications for the 2026 WOCNEP cohort will open Aug. 7 and will close Nov. 1.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Learn more about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/academics\/colleges\/nursing-health-sciences\/graduate-nursing-department\/program-admission\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"11547\">Graduate Nursing admission requirements and process<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Timeline<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students may choose a single, dual, or trio specialty of their choice, or they may complete the full scope 16-credit graduate certificate program.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you elect the full scope program, completion of didactic and clinical learning will take about 18 months.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants take one course at a time, and all learners are required to complete the Professional Practice class prior to taking the specialty courses. Participants must also pass the final exam before starting their clinical learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">View the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wocn.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WOC Nurses Society<\/a>&nbsp;Student Membership:&nbsp;$65<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Background Studies:&nbsp;study needs are determined by the clinical placement facility and range from $10-45<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Typhon Clinical Tracking Access:&nbsp;$70<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certification Exam(s):&nbsp;visit the&nbsp;<a
