{"id":15306,"date":"2025-10-31T16:24:28","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T21:24:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/academics\/?page_id=15306"},"modified":"2025-10-31T16:24:29","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T21:24:29","slug":"bachelor-of-social-work-program-admission","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/academics\/colleges\/nursing-health-sciences\/bachelor-of-social-work-department\/bachelor-of-social-work-program-admission\/","title":{"rendered":"Bachelor of Social Work Program Admission"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students wishing to enter the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program must complete an application process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Admission Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BSW applicants must have 60 credits in progress or completed when they apply to the program.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applicants must have completed, or be in the process of completing, these social work foundation courses or their equivalents:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ENG 111 \u2013 College Reading and Writing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CMST 191\/192 \u2013 Introduction to Public Speaking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BIOL 117 \u2013 Human Biology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PSY 210 \u2013 Introduction to Psychology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PSY 250 \u2013 Developmental Psychology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SOC 150 \u2013 Introduction to Sociology<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SOCW 340 \u2013 Introduction to Social Work and Social Welfare<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 mathematics course from the following options:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>STAT 110 \u2013 Fundamentals of Statistics (MSW programs may require statistics for admission)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MATH 107 &#8211; Math for Social Justice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MATH 115 &#8211; College Algebra<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PSY 231 &#8211; Psych Statistics (does not count for General Education Program Goal 4)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applicants must also earn a \u201cC\u201d or better in each of these courses.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All applicants must have an overall GPA of 2.0 and Social Work Foundation GPA of 2.5.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n    \n<div id=\"\" class=\"panel panel--relative panel--white\">\n    <div class=\"panel__container\">                <div class=\"panel__main\">\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Apply to the BSW Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students must apply for the BSW program. This application is in addition to acceptance to Winona State. The BSW program admits students each semester for both the Winona and Rochester Hybrid options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To complete your application, follow these
