Practicum education is the signature opportunity for students to apply classroom knowledge in professional, real-world social service settings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graduate students complete their practicum education experiences at agencies throughout the region. A WSU Social Work faculty and an agency Practicum Instructor are assigned to each student to provide guidance and supervision throughout the practicum experiences.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first 2 practicum courses for regular standing students, Foundation Practicum\/Seminar I\/II (MSW 590\/591), provide learning focused on generalist social work practice in an agency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students complete a minimum of 400 practicum hours over two 14-week semesters. This is an average of 15 hours each week in their Foundation Practicum.\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last 2 practicum courses for both regular and advanced standing students, Clinical Practicum\/Seminar III\/IV (MSW 690\/691), provide advanced learning focused on clinical social work practice in an agency.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students complete a minimum 600 practicum hours over two 14-week semesters. This is an average of 22 hours per week in their Clinical Practicum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
