In the U.S. I have lived, studied, and worked in states as diverse as Connecticut, Ohio, and North Carolina before I moved to Minnesota in the summer of 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I moved to Winona, I was immediately struck by people\u2019s kindness and helpfulness and by the beauty of the town and its surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I don\u2019t prepare for classes or conduct research, I spend time with my two great male cats (Voroshilov and Preobrajansky), I read 20th-century history books and Scandinavian crime novels, or I ride my bike around the town or various trails in southeast Minnesota.<\/p>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div><\/div>\n\n\n    \n<div id=\"\" class=\"panel panel--relative panel--white\">\n    <div class=\"panel__container\">                <div class=\"panel__main\">\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Professional Statement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I truly believe I have the best job in the world because it affords me almost unparalleled intellectual freedom. I am in the privileged position to be paid to do the things I love most: to research topics that I find important or exciting (or both), to read, to write, and to constantly interact with brilliant people\u2014both colleagues and students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Winona State, I will be teaching courses such as Introduction to Public Speaking, Introduction to Speech Communication, Professional Communication and Advanced Interpersonal Communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I also have extensive experience teaching courses in Health Communication, Intercultural Communication, Organizational Communication and Research Methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a health communication researcher, I am mostly interested in investigating social support in the context of stigmatized disorders, health disparities and body image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My research has been published in peer-reviewed journals including \u201cThe Atlantic Journal of Communication,\u201d \u201cThe International Journal of Men\u2019s Health,\u201d \u201cJournal of Health Communication,\u201d \u201cSex Roles\u201d and \u201cHoward Journal of Communications.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div><\/div>\n\n\n    \n<div id=\"\" class=\"panel panel--relative panel--white\">\n    <div class=\"panel__container\">                <div class=\"panel__main\">\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Courses Taught<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CMST 191: Introduction to Public Speaking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CMST 192:&nbsp;Introduction to Effective Communication<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CMST 266: Professional Communication Skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CMST 282: Introduction to Communication Studies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CMST 357: Communication, Social Media, &amp;
