Through your mentorship and guidance, teacher candidates learn:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>best practices in curriculum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how to effectively work with the needs of diverse learners<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>how to create a positive partnership with the families of your students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cooperating Teachers must meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Effective instruction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Culturally responsive teaching<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be licensed in the area for which they provide supervision<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use of state academic standards or, if unavailable, national discipline-specific standards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cooperating Teachers for Clinical Experience must 2 years of successful teaching experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cooperating Teachers for Student Teaching and Practicum must have 3 years teaching experience as a teacher of record in the licensure area<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Special Education teacher caseload should include 3-5 students in Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) or Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD)-MN\/ Cognitive Disabilities (CD)-WI licensure areas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professional development in coaching strategies for adult learners<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">edTPA<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/edtpa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">edTPA<\/a> is an assessment process that requires teacher candidates to demonstrate the skills needed to enter the classroom ready to teach and help all students learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a \u201creal world\u201d assessment, each teacher candidate will work with licensed teachers in Minnesota classrooms as they complete the edTPA process for their initial teacher license.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Evaluations &amp;
