{"id":7657,"date":"2026-01-21T09:55:40","date_gmt":"2026-01-21T15:55:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/academics\/?page_id=7657"},"modified":"2026-01-21T09:55:41","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T15:55:41","slug":"program-admission","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/academics\/colleges\/education\/leadership-education-department\/program-admission\/","title":{"rendered":"Leadership Education Program Admission"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll complete one application to apply to Winona State Graduate Studies and your desired Leadership Education program at the same time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students are also encouraged to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/financial-aid\/apply\/\">apply for financial aid<\/a>, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/financial-aid\/paying-for-college\/scholarships\/)\">scholarships<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/financial-aid\/paying-for-college\/assistantships\/\">graduate assistantships<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Apply to a Leadership Education Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The GRE is not required for graduate programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-block tabs\">\n\n    <div class=\"tabs-nav\">\n        <button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-1\">Admissions Requirements<\/button>\n<button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-2\">Application Materials<\/button>\n<button class=\"tabs__toggle\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-expanded=\"false\" id=\"tabbed-3\">How to Apply<\/button>\n    <\/div>\n\n    <div class=\"tabs-content\">\n        <button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">Admissions Requirements<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p><strong>Master&#8217;s Degrees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Master\u2019s applicants must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.75 from all previously attended institutions.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a GPA of at least 2.6,\u00a0 you may be admitted via probationary status on a case-by-case basis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Education Specialist Degrees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Education Specialist applicants must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.25 from all previously attended institutions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">Application Materials<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>In addition to the information you\u2019ll need to provide in your application, master&#8217;s degree and Education Specialist degree applicants must submit a written statement that&#8217;s 2-5 pages using 12-point font.<\/p>\n<p>In your statement, describe:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your vision of the purpose and role of K-12 education (or substitute \u201cK-12 education\u201d for a public or non-profit organization you have worked for or want to work for).<\/li>\n<li>Your personal interest, capabilities, and experience in leadership.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<button class=\"tabs__mobile__toggle\">How to Apply<\/button>\n<div class=\"tabs__content__item\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><div><p>All Leadership Education applicants should complete the general GradCAS application.<\/p>\n<p>Learn more about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/admissions\/apply\/graduate\/\">how to apply to WSU Graduate Studies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Deadlines&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Master\u2019s and Education Specialist applications are due at least 3 weeks before classes begin.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Incomplete Applications<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You will be contacted by the office manager if you submit an incomplete application.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Late Submissions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you do not complete the application by the deadline, you can enroll as a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/admissions\/apply\/graduate\/graduate-non-degree-seeking-student-application\/\">graduate non-degree seeking student<\/a>. You can attend as a non-degree seeking student for one term and complete a new registration agreement each term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This status allows you to take courses in the Leadership Education Department before you apply and are formally accepted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Up to 12 graduate credits that you earn as a graduate non-degree seeking student may be accepted into a degree program upon recommendation of an academic department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Admission as a graduate non-degree seeking student does not guarantee admission to a graduate degree program.
