That begins with improving ourselves and our interactions with others who are culturally different from us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s why we created the Multicultural Education Certificate Program (MECP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MECP will teach you how demographic characteristics and cultural experiences impact both your perspective of the world and your interactions with others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this program, you will:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>learn about the theories of Multicultural Education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>reflect on your social positioning personally and professionally to better respond to the needs of clientele.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>analyze a specific cultural community, organization, or social phenomenon through ethnography.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>learn about the various levels of discrimination that impact different demographics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>present your research at a professional venue associated with your area of study or career field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Completely Online<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Coursework is delivered&nbsp;entirely online&nbsp;through&nbsp;asynchronous classes,&nbsp;meaning you complete coursework on your own schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll do a mix of individual work and research projects. All classes are also offered during the summer, giving you greater flexibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Learn more about the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/w3.winona.edu\/DataServices\/WSUCatalog\/3291\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">required courses<\/a>&nbsp;for this program.<\/p>\n\n\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n\n\n\n\n    <div class=\"panel panel--white\">\n        <div class=\"panel__container\">\n            <div class=\"panel__intro\">\n                        <\/div>\n            \n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Customized Pathways<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Tailor your MECP education to your personal and career goals through&nbsp;3&nbsp;pathway options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can complete just a few classes or earn the full 12-credit certificate as a student or as a cohort in your workspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 4-course graduate certificate can be completed over 2 summers, with one course in June and one in July each year.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wsu-block accordion\">\n        <div class=\"accordion__item\" data-animation=\"fade-in-up\" data-animate=\"true\">\n        <button id=\"Complete_Courses_as_Graduate-Level_Electives\" class=\"accordion__toggle\" title=\"Complete_Courses_as_Graduate-Level_Electives\" aria-pressed=\"false\">\n            Complete Courses as Graduate-Level Electives        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\">\n            <p>Don&#8217;t want a MECP certificate but still want to take classes part of the program? You\u2019ll also actively apply what you\u2019ve learned\u2014from data collection to analysis\u2014by completing a final research project.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you\u2019re now entering the workforce or returning to it, you&#8217;ll walk away from this program having explored an equity issue and presented your scholarly findings to a professional audience.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n    <div class=\"accordion__content\">\n            <p>If you want to learn how to work more effectively with diverse clientele in your field, this is the pathway for you.<\/p>\n<p>From education, health, and law enforcement to non-profit, business, and industry, your company can contract with WSU to provide this in-demand training to their working professionals.<\/p>\n<p>Earn a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winona.edu\/academics\/adult-continuing-education\/employee-training\/multicultural-education-certificate\/\">non-credit Multicultural Education Certificate<\/a>\u00a0through Opportunities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;ll have the chance to&nbsp;research an equity issue<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>relevant to your area of study or career field and present your scholarly findings at a&nbsp;professional conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your research project can focus on an equity issue facing clientele who differ by any of the following demographics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ethnicity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Race&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Socioeconomic
