After graduating, she spent a year near Hiroshima, Japan, studying Japanese language and literature on a Fulbright Fellowship. She earned an MA and PhD in English at Indiana University, Bloomington, with a specialization in Victorian literature and culture and a doctoral minor in East Asian Studies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She joined the English department at WSU in 2009.
